A little about me
I have worked with horses since leaving school, many moons ago at 16.
I first got the bug as a very small child living at Knightsbridge Barracks, where my father was posted with the Household Cavalry. We couldn't afford a pony, but I got to ride Merrylegs,a delightful sec A,who belonged to the Colonel in Chief & who regularly buried me in the indoor school.
The next best option to ownership was working with horses fulltime.
So I have spent 30 + years working with various equines in most disciplines, moving around the UK.
Starting as a working pupil doing BHS exams, then working my way up the ladder to Head girl in kennels, private & livery yards.filling the summer months with polo, showing, stud work, yearling prep, eventing & many other things.
I have always been an advocate of "prevention is better than cure" & " it's not how well a horse is going, but how much better it could go ,if every box is ticked"
To that end, I've always had & still have a huge interest in nutrition,(qualified Dengie feed advisor),foot balance, veterinary care, saddle fitting & physio.
I first met Hilary Vernon, when she came to do a clinic at a livery yard I was running & it was a bit of a "lightbulb" moment.
We spend a fortune on saddle fit & physio, but don't often consider the physiology of the horses mouth, but this is one of the main communication lines from rider to horse.
So when Hilary said she would be happy to train me to fit her Informed Designs bits,I jumped at the chance to help many more horses be comfortable & improve that line of communication with the rider.
